Approximately 30 blue spinel crystals are scattered over a matrix of calcite, diopside, and phlogopite. These crystals are small, averaging only 0.1" (0.3cm). Several show moderate to severe damage; also shown are the curiously rounded crystal edges that seems to be the norm for this locality. Some of these spinels exhibit good octahedral form. The calcite fluoresces dark purple under short wave ultraviolet light.
