This specimen consists of several blue spinel crystals in a matrix of flesh-colored calcite. Traces of phlogopite and diopside also are found in the matrix. The largest spinel crystal measures 0.2" (0.5cm) across and exhibits octahedral habit. All of the spinels show the rounded crystal edges typical of this occurence. This specimen shows only minor damage. The calcite fluoresces dark purple under short wave ultraviolet light.
