Dims:5.2x3.6x2.5" (13.2x9.1x6.4 cm)
Wt: 25.6oz. (725g)
Gold Hill, Tooele cty., Utah
The matrix of this specimen is covered with a thin crust of brown beudantite crystals. These crystals are too small to study, even with a loupe. There are crystal faces, however, and they reflect the light to make the specimen sparkle nicely. The beudantite also occurs in small cavities on the back of the specimen, along with an unidentified black mineral. The specimen is fairly heavy for its' size. Beudantite was named for the French mineralogist Francois Beudant.
