Dims:1.2x0.9x0.9" (3.0x2.3x2.3 cm)
Wt: 0.5oz. (14g)
Little Lake, California
This specimen consists of a partial nodule of altered obsidian (perlite) on which rests at least five tiny bladed crystals of fayalite among many nodules of cristobalite. Not enough of the crystals are exposed to get a really good look at the orthorhombic form, but the crystal faces that do show are extremely translucent. The matrix of this specimen has been sawn through on one side. There is no damage to this specimen.
