This interesting hand specimen consists of a rounded Anthophyllite "nodule". The nodule consists of a layer of compact, fibrous Anthophyllite that surrounds a core of phlogopite mica. The Anthophyllite layer measures about 0.3" (8 mm) in thickness and is broken open, exposing its fibrous habit. It has a dull gray color and a pearly luster and is essentially opaque. The existing outer surface of the nodule is coated with more phlogopite, but no complete crystals are present.
