MONTEBRASITE
Specimen mob-1

$ 120.00
Dims: 1.8 x 0.8 x 0.7" (4.5 x 1.9 x 1.7 cm)
Wt: 5 g
Fazenda Pomaroli, Linopolis, Divino das Laranjeiras, Minas Gerais, Brazil
A single Montebrasite blade makes up the bulk of this small hand specimen. The crystal is in excellent condition, showing only a wedge-shaped cleavage surface where it was removed from its base. Its triclinic form is slightly warped, but this is due to twinning that is clearly visible on the intact end and one side of the blade. The crystal has a very pale, dull yellow coloration and a pearly luster, and is transparent and dimly-to-moderately clear due to the presence of many internal cleavage planes and a cloudy inclusion. A small amount of crystalline albite is attached to it.

A single Montebrasite blade comprises this thumbnail specimen. This blade is in excellent condition, showing almost no damage, and has excellent triclinic form. It is nearly colorless but shows a very faint yellow tinge, and is transparent and moderately clear, containing many internal fractures or cleavage planes. Its vitreous luster enables one to easily see slightly curved patterns on its surfaces that resemble those on some kunzite crystals. A few albite blades are intergrown, but there is no host rock present.
