This specimen consists of several blue spinel crystals in a matrix of calcite and diopside. The largest crystal measures 0.2" (0.5cm) across, but is damaged on one side. The other crystals in this specimen are intact, however, and exhibit good octahedral habit. The edges of these spinels are curiously rounded. The calcite matrix fluoresces dark purple under short wave ultraviolet light.
