ARGYRODITE
Specimen arg-1

$ 85.00
Dims: 0.33x0.18x0.16" (8.5x4.5x4.0mm)
Wt: 1.45 ct (0.29g)
Colquechaca, Bolivia
This specimen consists of argyrodite and pyrargyrite, what fraction of each I cannot tell. The argyrodite is opaque and a steel gray in color, while the pyrargyrite is translucent and deep red (at least in some areas, red highlights are visible through the pyrargyrite). The most obvious confirmation of the argyrodite is the unmistakable crystal pattern visible with a loupe on one of the specimen faces. This appears to be a face of the crystal, showing a slightly stepped growth pattern, and somewhat covered with more pyrargyrite. The pyrargyrite does not show any crystal form, and the conchoidal fracture on this specimen could come from either mineral.
