META-URANOCIRCITE
Specimen mtu-1

$ 60.00
Dims: 2.9 x 2.3 x 0.9" (7.5 x 5.8 x 2.3 cm)
Wt: 2.6 oz. (74 g)
Annie Creek Mine, Lawrence County, South Dakota, U.S.A.
Many tiny patches of crystalline Meta-uranocircite rest on the shale base of this hand specimen. These patches contain crystals that do not generally exceed 2 mm in diameter and are likely mostly incomplete but undamaged. A few tiny crystals show excellent pseudo-tetragonal form, and all have the classic bright yellow color and pearly luster of the specie. They rest mainly on patches of a black, powdery substance which could possibly be uranium oxide, but might be goethite or another metal oxide. The Meta-uranocircite glows a very strong green color under shortwave ultraviolet light.
