# HET-2, $360.00 Sold!
Dims: 0.65x0.40x0.33in (1.66x1.02x0.84cm) .... Wt: 0.64oz (18.0g) .... Loc: Cash Mine, Gold Hill District, Boulder County, Colorado, USA
While the largest fraction of the valuable minerals on this specimen is gold, the largest single crystal - and an excellent one it is - is hessite. The crystal is rectangular, striated, and silver in color. There are a number of smaller crystals that also appear to be hessite, plus numerous ones that have the same color but the wrong form - possibly hexagonal. The accompanying documentation indicated that polybasite and tennantite or tetrahedrite were present, but I could not unambiguously identify any of these. The host rock (quartz) contains many tiny silvery specs which remain unidentified.
# HET-1, $30.00 Sold!
Dims:1.2x1.0x0.5" (3.0x2.5x1.3 cm) . . . .Wt: 0.2oz. (7g) . . . .Loc:Joe Shaft, Emerald mine, Tombstone, Cochise cty., Arizona
This specimen consists of a bit of matrix material hosting a fine film of hessite (gray in color). Tiny cavities in the host hold crystals of this mineral, but they are so small that nothing can be told of them, even with the aid of a loupe.
